01Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Tap Havoc ("we", "us") handles information in connection with our mobile game DUCK & DIVE for Android (the "Game"). Tap Havoc is a brand of XSECTION PTY LTD. Our website is taphavoc.com.

The Game does not use accounts, and we do not run our own servers for it. Information leaves your device only through the Google services described below: Google Analytics for Firebase, Google AdMob with Google's User Messaging Platform, and Google Play Billing.

02Information and Data

Information stored on your device

The Game stores your best distances and other records, lifetime totals, the Bubbles you have collected, the upgrades and duck skins you have unlocked with Bubbles, your challenge progress, your settings (sound, vibration and the ANALYTICS setting), a count of runs played (used to pace ads) and whether you own Remove Ads, locally on your device. This information stays on your device and is removed when you clear the Game's data or uninstall it.

Information you give us

We do not ask you to create an account or to enter your name or email address to play. If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and anything you include in your message, and we use it only to respond to you.

Information processed by Google services

Depending on your settings, your region and your consent choices (see sections 3 to 5), the Google services used by the Game may process:

  • device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, app version, language and country;
  • app activity, such as app opens, sessions, engagement time, ads shown and a summary of each run (see section 3);
  • identifiers, such as the Firebase app instance ID and, for advertising by Google AdMob, the Android advertising ID;
  • approximate location derived from your IP address;
  • purchase history: confirmation from Google Play of a Remove Ads purchase and, if Analytics is active, a record of that purchase (product, price and currency).

The Game does not request access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or precise location.

03Analytics

The Game uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the Game is played, for example how far players swim and which obstacles are too hard, so we can fix problems and improve the Game. We do not use analytics to identify you personally.

When Analytics is active

  • Outside the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Analytics is on by default.
  • In the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Analytics stays off unless you allow analytics storage in Google's consent message (see section 5).
  • Analytics does not start until Google's consent service has provided a decision. The first time you play, the Game asks Google's consent service when it starts, and if that check cannot be completed (for example because you are offline), Analytics stays off for that session. On later launches, the decision stored on your device is used.
  • Wherever you are, you can turn Analytics off with the ANALYTICS setting in the Settings menu (the gear button; see "The ANALYTICS setting" below).

What the Game sends to Analytics

When Analytics is active, the Game records these events of its own:

  • run_end: a run has ended, with a summary of it: distance, run length in seconds, Bubbles collected, dives, launches, near misses, the difficulty tier reached, what ended the run, the area it ended in and how many areas were reached;
  • upgrade_bought and skin_bought: an upgrade or duck skin was unlocked with in-game Bubbles (no real money is involved), with which one and its level;
  • interstitial_shown: a full-screen ad was shown;
  • remove_ads_purchase_started: the Google Play purchase screen for Remove Ads was opened;
  • remove_ads_purchased: Remove Ads was bought;
  • remove_ads_restored: an existing Remove Ads purchase was restored, for example after reinstalling.

These events contain no names, email addresses, purchase order numbers or payment details. Google Analytics for Firebase also automatically records standard information, such as app opens, sessions and engagement time, together with the Firebase app instance ID and the device and app information listed in section 2.

Advertising signals in Analytics

Advertising ID collection by Google Analytics for Firebase is disabled. Ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation are set to denied for Analytics by default. In the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, they are updated only from your choices in Google's consent message. Elsewhere, they stay denied.

The ANALYTICS setting

  • The ANALYTICS setting shows ON only when Analytics is actually active.
  • Turning it OFF stops Analytics collection and resets the Firebase analytics data and app instance ID stored on your device. It does not delete analytics data that Google has already received (see section 11 to request deletion).
  • When you turn it OFF, it stays off across app restarts and updates, and it takes priority over any consent you give in Google's consent message, until you turn it back on yourself.
  • In the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, if the setting shows OFF because analytics storage has not been allowed, tapping it opens PRIVACY OPTIONS, where you can change your choices in Google's consent message.

Crash reporting

The Game does not include a separate crash reporting service.

04Advertising

The Game shows full-screen interstitial ads between runs, provided by Google AdMob. Ads appear only after a run has ended, never during a run. They are not shown during your first few runs, and are limited in how often they appear. The Game does not show banner ads or offer rewarded ads.

Google AdMob may use device information, the Android advertising ID and approximate location to deliver and measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad, prevent fraud and, where permitted and where you have agreed if consent is required, show personalised ads. Even when ads are not personalised, Google may still process limited information to deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud.

Once you own Remove Ads, the Game stops showing and requesting ads, and on later launches it does not start the Google Mobile Ads SDK at all. Google's consent message and PRIVACY OPTIONS still apply where required, because they also govern Analytics.

In the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the Game uses Google's User Messaging Platform to show Google's European regulations consent message. This includes players who have bought Remove Ads. Your choices in this message decide:

  • whether Analytics may use analytics storage. If you do not allow it, Analytics stays off;
  • the ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation signals passed to Google Analytics for Firebase;
  • how Google AdMob may use your data for ads.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with PRIVACY OPTIONS in the Settings menu. If you withdraw consent for analytics storage, Analytics stops, and the Firebase analytics data and app instance ID stored on your device are reset. Turning the ANALYTICS setting OFF always keeps Analytics off, whatever you choose in Google's consent message.

06In-App Purchases

The Game offers one optional, one-time purchase, Remove Ads, through Google Play. Payments are handled by Google Play. Tap Havoc does not receive or store your payment card details. The Game uses Google Play Billing to check whether you own Remove Ads, so it can unlock it, confirm the purchase with Google Play, and restore it if you reinstall the Game or change devices. If Analytics is active, the purchase and restore events listed in section 3 are recorded through Google Analytics for Firebase, and Google Analytics for Firebase may also automatically record the purchase itself, including the product, price and currency. Analytics never receives your payment card details.

Bubbles, upgrades and duck skins are earned by playing and cannot be bought with real money.

07Third-Party Services

The Game uses these Google services:

  • Google Analytics for Firebase (analytics)
  • Google AdMob (advertising) and Google's User Messaging Platform (consent)
  • Google Play Billing (in-app purchases)

These services process information under Google's own terms and privacy policies, and Google may process it in countries other than yours. See the Google Privacy Policy, how Google uses information from apps that use its services and Firebase privacy information.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.

08Children's Privacy

The Game is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13, or the minimum age required in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us at and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

09Data Retention

Information stored on your device stays there until you clear the Game's data or uninstall it. Analytics event and user data received by Google is kept for the data retention period set for the Game's Google Analytics property, which is no longer than 14 months. Advertising and purchase information is kept according to Google's policies. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your request and for reasonable record-keeping.

10Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information handled in connection with the Game. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Data sent by the Google services used in the Game is encrypted in transit using TLS. Information handled by Google services is protected according to Google's security practices.
